Dental Technology
In order to provide the best service to our patients, our office uses state-of-the-art technology. This allows us to treat dental cases with extreme precision and detect dental concerns at early stages.
PORTABLE X-RAY MACHINE & DIGITAL RADIOGRAPHY
We are so concerned about our patient’s well being and comfort that we were one of the first dental offices in San Antonio to have a portable xray machine. It’s portability and ease of operation makes it ideal to use on children and patients with limited mobility. No more having to relocate the patient to a different room to take a radiograph because the machine can be used anywhere in our office. We also use digital radiography computer imaging which uses up to 90% less radiation than conventional film x-rays. A small sensor records the image of your teeth and sends it to a computer for immediate viewing. The result is a highly detailed image that can easily be enhanced to better diagnose dental concerns and determine the very best treatment for each case.
iTero Digital Scanner
The iTero scanner is a special device that quickly takes thousands of pictures of the inside of your mouth. These images are used to assemble a highly-detailed 3D model of your teeth, gums, and bite. This lets us perform a full assessment and inspect every aspect of the inside of your mouth when designing your treatment.
The pictures are taken using a small, handheld scanner called a wand that uses low-radiation lasers to capture about 20 images of the teeth every second. During the process, the wand is gradually moved and rotated throughout the mouth. Overall, it usually takes less than 10 minutes to create a digital model of your smile using iTero, during which you’ll easily be able to relax.
DIAGNODENT
We use a painless and accurate laser cavity detection device called Diagnodent. It allows us to detect cavities on the most susceptible surfaces of the teeth that would have otherwise gone undetected by conventional methods. The laser is easy to use, harmless, and will alert us with an audible signal if it detects a cavity. It will even approximate the size of the cavity so that we can better plan treatment. By using this device, you can rest assured that cavities will be accurately detected and treated in their infancy
INTRAORAL IMAGING
We use small cameras about the size of a pen, called intraoral cameras, to help clearly see and record the condition of your teeth and gums. With this advanced technology we can zoom in on small diseased areas, cracks, chips and worn fillings. By displaying images on our computer screens patients will be able to see exactly what the dentist is seeing and gain a better understanding of dental procedures being performed.
